吉野杉の歴史

日本最古の造林地、奈良県川上村。ここには吉野の大自然と人々の知恵･努力が育んだ500年の歴史があります。

Kawakami in Nara prefecture is the oldest afforestation area in the entire Japan. It boasts a 500-year history, during which it has been blessed with the pristine nature of Yoshino and cared for with the wisdom and efforts of local residents.

1500年～ A.D.1500～.
日本で初めての植林が奈良県川上村で行われる。大坂城や伏見城の築城に用いられる。

The first afforestation project in Japan was launched in Kawakami, Nara Prefecture. The wood here was used in the construction of Osaka Castle and Fushimi Castle.

1720年～ A.D.1720～.
酒樽や桶の材料として重要が高まる。

Demand for Yoshino timber for the production of sake barrels and vats has grown.

1940年～ A.D.1940～.
優れた建築用材としての吉野材へ

Yoshino timber has been used as construction materials of exceptional quality.
